Artistic Description/ Biography:  Art for the Soul Inspired by the Spirit of God. Landscapes in pastel, acrylic and oils. Sarah Jane Butler is a pastor, painter and poet who currently resides in St. Joseph, MO. Painting runs in her family and Sarah says she has been painting ever since she managed to crawl under her sister's crib and finger paint with her mother's still wet oil paintings. Sarah studied watercolor at the Taos Institute of the Arts and studied oil painting with Linister in Kansas City, Missouri. She has exhibited art work the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji, IA, the Nobles County Art Center in Worthington, MN and the Remick Gallery in Windom, MN. She has also exhibited at several shows and galleries in the Kansas City area and participated in painting events such as La Strada della Arte and the Cow Parade. She has published a collection of poetry and paintings called 'Seasons of Grief', a book of devotional prayers for the season of Lent called 'Not Mine, but Thine' and an illustrated Christmas story, 'It Was a Dark and Cloudy Night'. Sarah's love of light and color combine to produce works of calm serenity that invite the viewer to stop, stay a while and rest from their busy routine. She is a frequent workshop and retreat leader whose work explores the relationships between art and prayer. Sarah has a BS in Business Administration from Caldwell College, Caldwell, NJ, an MBA in International Business from Avila University in Kansas City, MO and a Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, KS. Her hobbies include painting, writing, hunting and fishing, canoeing, backpacking, running and (of course) riding her Harley.
